How to Play and Win the Mini-Games in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
In HM: AWL or HM: AWL SE for PS2, PS3, and PS4, you can do activities that are fun to fill your spare time by playing Mini-Games.
Although there are some mini-games which didn't give you a reward if you win, you can raise the level of friendship with the villager who plays mini-games with you.
How to Play and Win the Mini-Games in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
Here are all kinds of mini-games that you can play in HM: AWL.
1. Milk Drinking Contest
Milk Drinking Contest is a contest that requires players to drink milk as much as possible by pressing the X/A button repeatedly.
The faster you press the X button, the sooner you drink the milk. But be careful, you can be tired because of it, when it happens you have to press the Start button to rest.
Players who get a higher score within 60 seconds will be the winner.
Some villagers who can play with you, including:
Grant
Talk to him when he is at the Inn at 2 PM every 3rd and 8th. But you can play with him in chapter 2 and so on.
Difficulty: Easy
Rock
Talk to him when he is at the Inn at 1 - 2 PM on the 3rd and 8th. Starting from chapter 1 and so on.
Difficulty: Medium
Hugh
Talk to him when he is inside the Inn at 10 AM every day. Starting from chapter 4 and so on.
Difficulty: Hard
2. Grave Cleaning
Difficulty: Medium
After Nina's death in chapter 2, talk to Galen when he is outside his new house (near the grave) in the morning, about 7:00 AM - 08:00 AM.
He will ask you to help him clean up his wife's grace. Just like the Milk Drinking Contest, you are required to press the X button as fast as you can to clean the tombstone.
If you win this mini-game, you will see Nina's ghost and she will thankful to you for cleaning her grave.
There are no special tips and tricks to win both mini-games above. It all depends on your thumb speed in pressing the action button and your feelings in dividing the rest time by pressing the Start button.
3. Territory Capture
Difficulties: Easy-Hard (The difficulty will increase if you win).Reward(s): Moonlight, 64 Memories Records
This is one of the mini-games that enough to make you confused when you first try. It is very different from the two mini-games above. The core of this game is to get the highest score by claiming the triangle-shaped areas.
To claim the territory, players will alternately put a blue or red line that is limited to 60 seconds. Each player who manages to make a blue or red triangle will get 1 score and so on.

Talk to him while he is working in his house from 8:30 to 11:00 AM. On the 3rd and 8th, you can play around 10:00 PM. Starting from chapter 3 and so on.
Difficulty: Easy
Kassey
Talk to him while he is working in his house from 8:30 to 11:00 AM. On the 3rd and 8th, you can play around 10:00 PM. Starting from chapter 1 and so on.
Difficulty: Medium
If you win 10 times against them in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition, they will give you 64 Memories Records.
Tips to Win the Territory Capture Mini-Game
- Understand the rules.
- Place the lines starting from the side, then to the middle area, don't be otherwise.
- Don't focus too much to block enemies from creating scores, but create your own territory to create lots of scores.
- Create a pattern linked to each other to immediately generate a high score.
- I know talk is easier than action, so keep practice and try to play even though you often lose.
